travel asia vietnam ho chi minh city rex hotel cung dinh restaurant

The Cung Dinh Restaurant in the Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, was a beautiful clean setting for our lunch.
The multi-course lunch featured the Spring Rolls and carved tomato roses we had made in our Vietnamese cooking class on the hotel patio.
The table was beautifully set, the food thoughtfully presented and thoroughly good.
The service was fantastic, and the traditional entertainment was delightful.
We started with our Spring Rolls which were presented speared to a fresh pineapple which had been hollowed out and lit with a candle.
I stuffed myself with these spring rolls not knowing that five more courses were coming.
A great experience was had by all.

A trio of musicians entertained us with traditional instruments during our lunch, Cung Dinh Restaurant, Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 2020.
One played a square box guitar, another the flute, and the third a tradtional Vietnamese one-stringed instrument, the "Dan bau," also called a gourd lute.
For our mostly Caucasian/American group, they smilingly included a couple traditional American songs including one country-western.
